Cerebral palsy is central nervous lesions combination of various origins showing clinically by different forms and degrees of motor disorders.

Sixty patients (children from 6 months till 3 years) with various forms of cerebral palsy were carried out procedures of functional electrostimulation (FES). Electric stimulation was conducted while passive walking-like moving of legs in a lying position. EMG registration of muscles activity of legs was carried out in the same movement and also in rest and simultaneous legs flexion before and after procedures. EMG parametres of children with cerebral palsy and children of similar age without any motor disorders were calculated. The group of healthy children consisted of 24 children. The torque in knee joints developed by the child was also registered for each leg.

The various EMG parameters reflecting physiological features of muscles condition of given pathologies were analyzed. Cross-correlation analysis of EMG signal envelope depending on knee angle was carried out. Amplitude modulation of EMG signal envelope and ratio of average EMG amplitudes during rest and moving was studied. Parameters were compared with those of healthy children, and parameters changes were considered in the treatment process. Spectra of EMG signals and their features were analyzed.

Parameters reflecting a functional condition of child muscles were found. Dynamic of parameters both in treatment courses and in the long time period was studied. Diagnostic parameter that significantly differs spastic and atonic-astatic form of cerebral palsy was obtained. The dependence of this parameter on the age of the child was analyzed, and the parameter change during treatment was analyzed too.
